*Drops bunch of PL headcanons* Enjoy my friends
- Hershel smells like chocolate. No one knows why or how, he just does. Only Luke, Flora, Claire and Randall have mentioned this to him. He takes it as a compliment.
- Descole practices his grand entrances, his judge being Raymond. You bet he gets really happy when he perfected his entrances.
- Descole trips on his cloak a lot and is too embarrassed to mention that to anyone.
- Luke has accidently let animal into Layton’s home multiple times. But Layton never gets mad because he knows Luķe doesn’t mean to.
- Layton was genuinely angry when he heard about “nice guys” and had to leave the room saying “This isn’t my legacy!”
- Paolo actually did deep research into makeup in order to make his disguises on point.
- Back when Hershel was 17 (frosherl) he did try tying his hair back but he always broke the hairband.
- After Azran legacy, Layton and Descole meet up occasionally to talk. Although it was awkward at first for Descole he did eventually warm up to Layton.
- Clive is afraid of fire and the dark. Fire reminding his of his parents which bothers him alot. The dark because he never really had someone to help him get over it as a kid.
- After Azran Legacy, Desmond/Descole got nightmares about his past and the Azran.
-Layton would stay up at night talking to Desmond/Descole on the phone about Desmond/Descole’s nightmare. Layton is good at comforting him.
- Layton has comforted many of his students who have gotten stressed about their courses. Even going out of his way to plan private session to help specific students who are struggling.
- Luke and Flora in 2018 would send Layton wholesome memes throughout the day. Which Layton adores seeing.
- When Ernest first met Professor Layton. He kind expected a lecture on how to treat his daughter but NOPE . He simply said “A true gentleman awnsers a lady’s request”.
- Randall once made a pun so bad that Froshel walked to the edge of a forest and proceeded to scream his lungs out before going back and saying “I’m sorry but that pun was awful”
- When Frosherl’s voice crack it was really deep at first and actually scared Randall.
- Randall caused “the incident” at school by putting a smoke bomb in one of the boy bathrooms. He was out of school for a week.
- Clive is good at forging people’s signatures
- The reason why Clive doesn’t like snails is because one time he fell asleep at a park. Only to wake up with snails on him.
- Randall purposefully make anime character grunts when fencing so Frosherl would laugh and accidently let Randall win
- Hershel is a sore loser at board games. Usually ending with Luke laughing and Hershel sulking about.
Proof that Randall is Level 5′s baby:
- They let Yuri Lowthenal voice him (Even the kid version, why?) to attract the Clive fans.
- Randall is Layton’s raison d'être
- By that, I mean he was the original puzzle and archaeology fanatic
- Layton went on to study puzzles and archaeology in his memory
- Regardless of that, Randall survived. Level 5 actually let a character survive at the end of their game. Claire, Layton’s girlfriend, didn’t even get that privilege.
- Randall, like Claire, had a major impact in shaping who Layton is.
- Teenage Randall is a better fencer than Layton. (”I win again, Hershel!”)
- The Azran might have received a mention in PL4 (I think?) but Randall was the first person we see who really studied them.
- Randall fills so many of the character tropes Level 5 loves. (By tropes, I don’t mean something bad. We get to see him in lots of different lights.) Presumed dead only to come back to life? Cute ginger with glasses? Friend-turned-villain? Love triangle? Betrayal? Memory problems? Daddy issues? Misunderstanding? Staple in our hero’s tragic backstory? Pawn for the true villain? Randall’s got it all.
- We see him at three different stages in his life- kid, teen and adult. We didn’t see kid Layton until the last game.
- I swear, he has more lines in one game than Flora does in an entire trilogy.
- Despite being a pawn in Descole’s plan…. Randall still did some bad stuff and got off scot-free, apparently.
- (And yes, I know now he didn’t really kidnap Angela but he still went and kidnapped Luke and hung him from a high wire and taunted Layton.)
- “Welcome home, Randall. You poor cinnamon roll- you’ve been through so much! Here’s a city and a hot wife for your troubles.”
- Nope. No matter how cute the credit pictures are, I refuse to believe Angela forgave him just like that. This is the woman who blamed Hershel for her boyfriend’s death and waited 18 years to apologise.
- Descole is Level 5′s sinnamon roll, so he’s the only one at fault here.
- Randall’s villain name is the ‘Masked Gentleman’. His outfit is like a white version of Layton’s outfit, even with the top hat. (Which is cool and matches the theme of the twin masks.)
- Randall can f*cking FLY. With the Masked Gentleman cape/wings. They don’t even bother explaining that one
- I’m honestly surprised and disappointed they didn’t put him in Azran Legacy. Not even a reference.
