It’s amazing how fast the popular opinion on something can turn around in such a short timeframe here on tumblr.

Steven Universe, Rick & Morty, Undertale, these things used to be almost universally loved until everyone suddenly decided they were actually awful and shouldn’t be liked by anybody at the drop of a hat.

I’m thankful that Gravity Falls ended before it could meet the same fate.

Each thing you mentioned was not only had a huge boom, but a bunch of people who insisted it was just for them because it had something that they wanted. The moment it does something they don’t like, or won’t satisfy their personal wants and desires, well, they just leave and act like there wasn’t anything good about the product to begin with.

all of the things mentioned are seen as “cringy” interests, you’re not allowed to like them, otherwise people will mock you and make fun of you for enjoying it.

there have been things in their fandoms that caused their reputation to sour, if a few fans do something or say something bad, well then they all must be like that.

it hurts having something you love and enjoy be mocked and considered part of cringe culture.
