How to tell if a video is a screamer

aph-belgium

halloween is fast approaching, and sending screamers has become an increasingly popular trend over the past few years. while some people may enjoy them, they can also trigger anxiety attacks in others.

  • check the section/category of a video. if it’s under “comedy”, “prank”, “horror”, or something similar, close the tab immediately.
  • comments are also a giveaway. scroll to the comments section before playing a video. if comments are disabled, there’s a likely chance the video is a screamer. close the tab right away. if you see comments like “whoa, that made me jump!”, close the window! and if it’s impossible to disable comments, look for multiple comments deleted by the creator.
  • check out the video itself, while it’s paused. if it has very low music (this makes the audience want to turn the volume up, so the scream is louder and scarier), or if it has very small text (which makes you want to go into full screen), that’s a good indication that it’s a screamer. exit out and close the tab!
  • look at the content of the video. if the clip itself deals with the scary or supernatural, like a film about ghosts, you can’t be certain. be careful, and exit the tab if the content seems triggering. pause the video and forward all the way to the end. If everything is good feel free to watch. if a frame with a scary picture comes up, close the tab immediately.
  • if the video shows a room or picture, and invites you to “find what’s wrong in the picture”, or “find _____”, close the window immediately!
  • there’s a new trend going on where videos describing people reacting to screamers are actually screamers themselves. if you suspect this, scroll down and see the comments. if the maker of the video disabled comments to purposely lead viewers to believe the video is genuine, scroll down just enough to see the video time, so you don’t see the video itself. Turn the volume down, just in case it is a screamer, and if the video plays out and there’s no scream, it’s safe to watch.
  • check the time on the video. if it’s suspiciously short, exit the tab.
  • look at the related or recommended videos. if any of them fit the above, the video is a screamer.

stay safe this halloween season!

also there’s another one that you forgot which i usually look for first when it comes to wondering if a video is a screamer or not, and that is checking the likes to dislikes ratio. if the dislikes are an abundant amount, close the tab. this is a fairly common one that i usually remember.

Stay safe!! I personally love jump scares, but once when I was eight, I showed “The Scary Maze Game” to my friend, who literally had a panic attack, and I am scarred for life with the guilt from that episode. It seems like it’s a in good fun, but it really hurts some people, so please be careful!

sylveonagainstddlg

these always give me panic attacks thank you !!

You all need to know this; and if you’re an asshole who purposely does stuff to make people have a panic attack; you can get the fuck off of this blog.

Thank you for these! Halloween time is my favorite time of year, but screamers give me horrible panic attacks

Raise your hand if you think Flora and Clive could’ve been friends

…Well, fake friends on Clive’s part- maybe. That’s where the angsty betrayal comes in. Because as awesome as the ‘there’s no Future Luke’ twist was, it would’ve been even better if the friendship between Flora (and Luke) and Clive was developed more, only for Clive to pull the rug out from everyone’s feet. Clive already has a past connection to Layton and shares some conversations with him as Clive in the epilogue. Luke and Flora don’t really get that, though. Flora gets kidnapped and Luke gets kicked down some stairs. The two of them argue that they have to help Layton shut down the Mobile Fortress, but they never mention Clive. Flora’s pointless kidnapping would have held more weight to it if we got to see how it affected her- how Clive’s betrayal affected her- but her feelings get pushed aside with everything else that’s happening. What about Luke looking up to his brave future self only to find out his future self was a fake? Does he ever worry that people will notice he resembles Clive?

The three of them share conversations during their adventure and their little dialogue boxes reveal character interactions. I like the part when Layton goes AWOL outside the Towering Pagoda, leaving Clive to babysit Luke and Flora for a little while.

(Reminds me of the time I stuck a ‘kick me’ sign on my older cousin’s back.)

Clive wasn’t expecting Flora to come to Future London, though he seems to have done his research on her. (”You’re one to talk, Flora! As I recall, you go bright pink and the drop of a hat!”) She instantly talks to him like a friend- Because Future Luke is still her friend, right?- and Clive addresses her more than Luke at times. Like when Flora gets excited about exploring China Town- Luke tells her to focus, but Clive tells Luke to ‘loosen up’…

Flora is enjoying the adventure, and so is Clive deep down, as he tells Layton in the epilogue. (”At some point, I realised I was enjoying our time together.”) Luke is more concerned- having already survived several perilous adventures- and so he bickers with Flora. This could have been an indicator that he isn’t the real Future Luke. Future Luke would have grown up in this hostile Future Luke. Surely he would be more concerned for their safety? But Flora, who has faced nothing but worry from Layton and little Luke, is glad someone is finally taking her feelings into account- that someone believes in her. Then it turns out that Clive was just manipulating her and he shoves her in a cage.

I imagine her character development could have been similar to Anna’s in Frozen. (Yes, I’m making a Frozen comparison.) She can’t just open her heart to anyone, because there are people in the world who will try to hurt her. But, alternatively, like Elsa, she can’t live her whole life locked away. Flora knows this- it’s Layton who needs to learn this. The two of them could’ve had a quick heart-to-heart during the epilogue or in the Mobile Fortress.

Am I saying Flora should’ve had a moment with Clive afterwards? Should he have apologised and she forgiven him? Uh, no. Chances are she wouldn’t want to get anywhere near Clive after he kidnapped her- and Layton probably wouldn’t let her. Clive’s too focused on Layton to care about Flora. The only plausible reason why he kidnapped her in the first place was to lure Layton up to the Mobile Fortress. Layton would’ve gone up there to stop him anyway but ah well But Flora at least could’ve acknowledged how she felt.

I just wanted even more sibling angst in my favourite Layton game, okay?

Anonymous asked:

If Paper cuts you is it ironic or just heccin rude

justin-chapmanswers answered:

Let’s go with ironic. If he cut you bad enough he’s already going to be freaking out, doing everything he can to make you feel better, and is potentially holding back tears.

No need to add a “rude” comment to his conscience and cycle of late-night thoughts.
