I didn’t realize I wasn’t re blogging this every time I saw it, but I see it frequently and think about it often. Just yesterday I quoted it. I hope you all reblog this for others to see.
Did you know Donald Trump might technically be a Disney villain?
In 2007 Donald Trump approached the local council of Aberdeenshire Scotland and requested permission to build an extravagant golf course complex just outside the tiny village of Balmedie. They rejected his proposal outright. The land where Trump wanted to build was home to a very rare ecosystem made up of fragile sand dunes that environmental scientists called “an area of special interest.” Locals wanted no part of the project.
Not one to be told no Trump immediately took his case (and his money) to Edinburgh where government officials were much more receptive and approved the golf course immediately.Once ground had broken and building was underway Trump bullied and threatened locals with CPO’s (compulsory purchase orders). This would allow him to take land without the owners consent under the pretense it was for the good of the community.
Over the course of several years Trump slandered a local farmer named Micheal Forbes. He claimed that Forbe’s farm was a “slum” and that the man “lived in a pig-like atmosphere.” In reality he thought Forbes farm was an eyesore and was too close to the hotel he was constructing. Along with unnecessary force against journalists and paying off local police Trump committed a long list of atrocities that he has never had to answer for. He cut off locals water, destroyed the dunes and actively fought against a nearby offshore wind-farm because it would “spoil his view.”
The Ballad of Nessie was released in 2011 one year before the documentary You’ve been Trumped which documents the events in Aberdeenshire. I can’t prove it but the similarities between the short and the real life story of Trump and the golf course are too numerous to be a coincidence. A man from far away shows up to build his golf course …in Scotland. The message of the short is that if you’re upset its alright to cry and that’s true. When I consider that people are actually listening to the ravings of a man so caricatured in his evil hes basically a cartoon character I want to cry too.
