Sweet sacks of golden goodness. Watch recipe in action here.

What you need:

  • 1 cup dried apricot
  • ¼ cup apple juice
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ TBL lemon juice
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • Won ton wrappers
  • Canola oil, for frying
  • Red sour straws
  1. Chop dried apricots into small pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
  2. Grab a medium pot and pour in some apple juice, some sugar, some lemon juice and a little vanilla. Bring it to a boil.
  3. Stir in your chopped fruit and cook on low heat until your fruit soaks up the cooking liquid, about five minutes. Place in a small bowl and refrigerate one hour.
  4. To assemble: Put about 1 tsp of your fruit filling into the center of the won ton wrapper and clasp closed by pinching it. It should look like a little pouch (see video for technique). Place all your pouches on a sheet pan until ready to fry.
  5. Bring a small pot of oil up to 360 degrees. Place about four pouches in at a time and fry until golden, about 2-3 minutes. Evacuate to a clean plate and allow to drain.
  6. Once cool, wrap the top with sour red straws. Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream.

Hey Justin, do you support Lightbrush? The episode had pretty interesting interactions between Lightbulb and Paintbrush.

justin-chapmanswers answered:

My general answer tends to lie in that all non-problematic ships/headcanons are super awesome and deserve some level of support. That-said, Lightbrush is pretty darn adorable to a greater extent than many other popular, so they get like… double-support!

When going about writing the show we don’t really write with romantic intentions in mind, no matter the pairing. We focus more-so on working towards dynamic relationships that can go with or without such a label, but are free to interpretation. When writing certain dynamics, of course, my mind goes to “yes, this certainly is shippable, good work team” but it does not necessarily drive any of the conversations or growth. Were I to be writing a different project, maybe it would be more in the forefront, but for the purposes of II we are pretty set in what needs to be accomplished and we’re not particularly focused in on telling any thorough love stories. Does that mean that this will be a constant going forward? Shruuuug. There’s wiggle-room.

Lightbulb-Paintbrush in itself is one that I’m excited to see people ship because it makes me feel like we did especially well in assorting the duo’s dynamic. There are plenty of shows that come to a romantic conclusion without paving the way for interesting character interactions beforehand so, to me, many of those fall flat. The groundwork towards chemistry needs to come first for a couple to feel like a worth-while investment on the audience’s part. As I stated earlier, I am more interested in laying down these foundations than tapping into some of the expected next-steps, buuuuut I do like that this setup leaves doors open in the case we are inspired to pursue a particular pathway and believe we have a special story to tell.

Lightbulb and Paintbrush, as a friendship or otherwise, mean a lot to the crew, so to that degree I appreciate the kind words. :)
