the logistics of turnabout goodbyes make me so sad. edgeworth putting on a coat because now finally, here is something new, here is something else to agonize over after fifteen years of believing you killed the man you loved more than life itself — and instead you find a boat, and you know that there is something wrong but you've lived your whole life on the shakiest of grounds and so you row out onto the lake with a man you barely recognize despite it all. there is a gunshot like you knew there would be but you still can't quite believe it, you still can't wrap your head around what's happened. and it stays that way, even when gumshoe drives the cruiser up to gourd lake expecting to find anyone; and instead he finds a miles edgeworth who won't meet his eyes and who goes quietly. the hem of your coat is wet. it's such a beautiful night.

I keep forgetting that my dude Edgeworth is an absolute tank. He seems all like, fragile and delicate with his tragic backstory and the nightmares and fear of earthquakes and elevators etc, and his prissy, fussy mannerisms and dress. . . but when held at gunpoint, he doesn't flinch. No. Like a fool, he goes "no one gets away with committing murder in my office" and to this day I don't know why he wasn't shot on the spot. When he gets kidnapped, his entire emotional range is "ugh this sucks, how annoying, better get free so I can go charging in to confront someone." Caution? Fear? Never heard of her. He's pretty damn chaotic. He could give Kay or even Phoenix a run for sheer chaotic energy.
