Pokemon is like if sports and cats were blended into the ultimate all-consuming marketable thing

eevee-nicks

That’s… actually the best explanation of Pokémon I’ve ever seen.

Gonna go ahead and write a fic from the POV of a mysterious narrator, this being a man who becomes Descole’s apprentice endeavoring to learn to do disguises like Descole does… gonna really go in on the narrative of the mystery guy gradually winning Descole’s trust and esteem and maybe even being let in on parts of his Tragic Backstory… weave the plot of how they become friends or maybe even something more… how the mystery narrator comes to adore his mentor and even assist with some of his projects, particularly the engineering/robotics type… but Descole not wanting to drag his student into his search for the Azran/rivalry with Targent

and eventually Descole going away on an excursion and never returning, and the mystery narrator seeking to uncover what happened, and ofc it’s hard to trace Descole… the last anyone seems to know is that his civilian persona, Desmond Sycamore, discovered a “living mummy” and wrote for assistance to none other than… Hershel Layton… at which point our mystery narrator (I want to get this to the point where the reader begins to construct a mental picture of the narrator. Hopefully of the handsome dreamy type) swears revenge and sets out to carve his own path as a villain, vowing once more that Layton shall pay for doing this to him Again…

…it’s Don Paolo

I just learned yesterday that Pikachu, my favorite Pokemon, was originally designed not by Ken Sugimori (he only finalized the design), but by a female graphic designer named Atsuko Nishida.

Also after googling her, I found out that she’s also designed Sylveon–another favorite PKMN of mine. She’s also illustrated some very pretty Pokemon cards!!

Thank you Ms. Nishida! :-) May you get more credit and love for your contribution to the Pokemon franchise.

as a camera shy person myself, knowing she hides behind plushies is just amazing

Her and Yoko Taro are legends at hiding from cameras. xD

Here’s some other Pokemon she’s designed, for anyone curious:

and not to derail this post into anything overtly political, but: If it weren’t for a woman in the gaming industry, we wouldn’t have freakin’ Charizard. I feel like that’s something more people should know about!
