i know i talk about pokemon go a lot but like. the summer of 2016 where pokemon go was released? i’ve never seen anything like it in my life. shit was absolutely insane

people who were outside gardening or shopping in a store would tell people on their phone that they heard people get excited about a rare pokemon about a block down
random people who were also playing would see you play and come up to you and be like “oh theres a mr mime at the station if you hurry you can make it”. random people would just come up to you and have nice chats and ask you what youve caught up till now
it genuinely felt like you were a kid again at the age where you’d just go up to random other kids on the playground and be like “hey whatcha doing” and you’d both hang out just because even if you didnt know the others
then winter came and the hype died down bc it was too cold to go out and also super die hards would start actually fighting over gyms and walking around with like 7 phones just speedrunning the game and dunking on kids for not having as many max CP mewtwos as they had
