Im sure im not the first person to notice this but
I found a bit of parallels between the diamond’s story and the song “Both of You” while I was rambling about su to my bf.
There’s a bit of color symbolism in the song, with yellow being linked to Greg, blue linked to Pearl and pink to Steven/Rose. But then I got the thought “Hey wait a minute thats the diamond colors….”

It parallels how Yellow was able to seemingly move on from Pink’s death, She acted strong and like a leader, like how Greg had to be strong for his kid, and he seems to be happy with his new life, even though Rose isn’t there. He’s accepted it.
Pearl is linked with Blue who WASN’T able to accept Pink’s death. Even after all those years, she still can’t believe that she’s gone… it feels wrong! Just like how Pearl feels towards Rose.

Whats the use of feeling blue exemplifies these themes.
And through it all Steven is the one who brings it all together. In both of you the pink background ties them together as Steven sings to try and mend the relationship between them. He also sings about mending the diamond’s relationships in “Familiar” and in change your mind he’s there as the one to try and fix blue and yellow (and eventually white’s) relationships

anyways su music is like the best thing ever and steven universe is gorgeous and has great themes that i still love so very much
Steven even appears pink in that scene iirc!

I’ve always wonder what might have happened if before A Single Pale Rose, Steven wandered into a jewelry shop and struck up a conversation with the person behind the counter. “Oh yeah I’m pretty familiar with gems myself, I even have one embedded in my stomach” and he lifts up his shirt to reveal his gem stone which makes the jeweler bend down to examine it and goes “why that’s a mighty fine diamond you have there” and Steven is just like
