Characters: Clive

He was not in his right mind, and he kind of knew it. It was one of those unusual situations (perhaps not so unusual) where you know something, but at the same time, you don’t acknowledge it.

But who could blame him? The people around him decided to support him, instead of stopping him.

So, at least some don’t think I’m crazy, right?

Were they blinded by love? Was he being unable to accept he had been lucky to have a new family? He wanted revenge, though he gave it many other fancy names.

He observed the almost finished robot. He planned to destroy a city with it. He got others to do it.

It was so surreal, not only the giant machine, but the fact it was being build inside a fake city. A modified version of the one he planned to destroy.

His partner in crime didn’t know about this part.

Well, supposing the time machine actually worked just fine this time, nothing of this would happen, right? Though he was interested just in saving the woman alone, wasn’t he?

Then he couldn’t blame him for this.

The robot was just for him. Seeing it he felt again the childish kind of joy a kid gets when is about to receive a toy they wish.

But,

This toy can destroy a city.

He came to personally supervise its construction, though he was no expert on mechanics.

He just had to learn how to use it. Not a big deal.

He anticipated the scene, not knowing why he wanted this, the only possible end, if not stopped before, he would be stopped after, and his life would end.

And everyone would remember him just as a madman, a mass murderer.
