They used Phoenix getting amnesia in game 2 case 1 as a framing mechanism for a tutorial-type case… and then did nothing with it after that.

LIKE he gets his memory back at the end BUT I was super excited because I figured he would have lasting memory loss (like he remembers Maya of course but can’t remember a lot of other things and needs the memories of them returned) and I was so excited for him to encounter Edgeworth and have no idea who he was and to see Edgeworth’s reaction to Phoenix not knowing who he was!! Like Edgeworth says something that makes it clear they are supposed to know eachother, not knowing what’s happened and Phoenix is like ??? um
I played on expecting wacky hijinks and instead I got “EDGEWORTH IS DEAD” and also “yOU THOUGHT YOU WERE DONE WITH THE VON KARMA NAME?! HAHAHA”
