Do…online companies not realize that repealing the FCC will affect them too? Sure, they’ll have to pay more to get faster internet access, but at the same time, we the consumers will be paying more, so if the ISPs went “online shopping is $15 extra! :’D” a lot of consumers will go “oh will you look at the time I have to make a run to Walmart to buy that item that I could have bought off of amazon” because physically going to Walmart will be cheaper than amazon.
And like. The same applies for eBay. And Shutterfly. And every online online store. They’ll suffer huge losses…
…Just so our ISPs could strangle $15 a month extra out of us.
And online gaming y’all. Everyone is gonna go for the “play offline” games. Steam and Origin will take huge hits.
….So why aren’t the CEOs opposing this? The ISPs are gonna screw everyone over if net neutrality dies, including them. Money from their end isn’t gonna solve this. They need to step it up.
And like, technology too. Whos going to buy the latest tablet or phone if they cant play online games or access the internet?
What makes a smartphone more useful than a flip phone in that case? An ipad or galaxy tab will be completely useless without the internet. Electronic stores that specialize in computers and tablets and phones will lose out too.
Pretty sure no big company actually thought this through.
last i checked, a lot of companies like netflix DID oppose this, but i haven’t heard from them in a while
Last time a lot of companies did a day of protest where they turned off their sites to spread awareness, or had a banner, or something.
This time everyone is strangely quiet…
