can we talk about the fact Miles Edgeworth does not fingerprint the murder weapon and instead requests the autopsy be performed twice in 1-2

and does not look at his own fucking evidence before the trial in 1-3

while Franziska immediately starts out Perfectly Prepared (except for the problems she missed because she is 1 person and Gumshoe is incompetent)

I do have an explanation for this:

- Manfred von Karma did not give half a shit about his daughter beyond making her a prosecutor at the same time as Miles for the sake of a bullshit competition or something

- so he left her in Germany where theres presumably an actually sane logical legal system that gives prosecutors actual time to prepare their case and assumes they will use it to investigate thoroughly and pick the suspect based on the actual results

- not Manfred von Karma’s M.O. either way (SLAM DUNK) but I guess Franziska found better mentors in his absence

- while Miles Edgeworth stayed under “””loving””” watchful eye of von Karma who groomed him in the ways of turning shit into candy (Russian idiom that fits here like nowhere else) and not giving a shit about actually investigating anything

- Miles ends up genuinely believing that the police are the ones who are supposed to investigate and his job is just to trust them and try to prove what they came up with

- this is factually inaccurate prosecutors are in charge of investigations for a reason

- I’m not saying Franziska couldn’t be set up with false evidence the way Miles turned out to have been in 1-5 but the chances are much lower

also Miles and Franziska are both genius prodigies but given Fran had to start 7 years earlier she never eally got the chance to coast on talent the way Miles did and so got used to Working Hard and Trying Her Best from the beginning

tl;dr I adore Franziska von Karma with my entire heart
