Layton AU with a totalitarian system??
Imagine; Clive’s parents died, leaving him in governmental care. He discovers they were killed because they spoke up against the country’s leader, leaving him angry of course, but he manages to continue acting as a loyal follower of the party, so they continue to (financially) support him, allowing him to study social science, in hope he might work for the party later.
So he has an apartment in this shitty complex, and of course university is infiltrated with propaganda, so it sucks. And one day he randomly walks into the wrong lecture, and it’s completely quiet so he doesn’t dare to walk out, and this dude teaching, is he insane?? He casually criticises the goverment, is he ok? And Clive can already see the police barging in and arresting this guy, but nothing happens. And Clive is pretty shocked, and when he gets home he thinks about it all night.
The next morning, he nearly has a heart attack when the Professor is standing in front of the door across the hallway, talking to the father of a family that lives on Clive’s floor (shh. It’s the tritons). And??? I don’t know any more, help me
