Can we stop pretending asian characters (specifically east asians) are white and making edits and drawings of them as black/hispanic like with their skin so much darker to the point theyre not even asian anymore… we’re literally one of the most underrepresented ppl in media right now aside from like anime characters and as far as ive seen they might as well be white too because i’m constantly seeing lots of them drawn clearly NOT asian

There are even characters who are collectively known/headcanoned and referred to as asian by their whole respective fandoms and yet i still see them depicted as black to push poc representation even if the representation was already there?? asian representation is just as important as representation for black people but when you take that away by changing the races of asian characters completely you’re implying you don’t really care about it. i guess it’s because pale skin = white person right

Everyone who’s about to say i’m racist or something needs to understand that being tired of seeing a whole group of people who are already poc being depicted as.. you know, not their canon race does not equal hate against the races a fan editor/artist chose to depict them as instead

You can of course draw east asian characters with darker skin tones without changing their ethnicities completely. in fact i think it should be encouraged more! we can draw characters with varying skin tones while still keeping them asian to spread more positivity among the asian community seeing as the concept that fair skin = beautiful and dark skin = ugly has been circulating around a lot of asian countries for a looong time and i think doing this would help even a little. it beats the other option i’d say
