Because I didn’t really get any good pictures of my PL vs AA Maya cosplay on tumblr, here it is! All three were taken by my good friend hetaliacrazed98 at Zenkaikon this past weekend, then edited by myself! It’s so rare I get to edit photos of me, so I have to thank her immensely for that! <3
Making Maya has been quite the journey for me, and it’s a journey far from over (since there’s still so much I want to do, like stub her wig, re-make her wrist wraps so that they actually stay in their x-shapes, get real ukon geta to wear…somehow in my size…and so on). It’s a journey that really increased my cosplay skill level AND my self confidence, especially since I tried as hard as I could to base her outfit off of actual historical kimono/haori/obi patterns, provided by my own komon kimono, haori, and fukuro obi. I had so many people come up to me this last weekend and tell me I was a super cute Maya, or their “headcanon Maya,” and I can’t thank everyone enough for that. I’m really proud of this cosplay despite all its flaws, and I can’t wait to make improvements so I can be everyone’s favorite burger-loving spirit medium in the future!
