“Very soon, the world will end.” vs. 

“It’s the only way to save everyone.”  

Luke goes from shutting the world out in PL4 to saving the world in PL6. The camera scrolls up the same way in both scenes before he turns around. In PL4, he’s standing in his dark bedroom, having locked himself away. His dad’s at odds with him, his mum’s missing and his hometown is being ravaged by a monster. Arianna shut him out and his only friend is a mouse until Layton and Emmy arrive. Layton teaches him that they need to keep a clear mind in troubled times. 

In the PL6 scene, the world really is ending with the golem apocalypse. With all the Bronev family backstory drama going on, Luke (plus Aurora) seems to be the only person who keeps a clear mind in the Azran sanctuary. Our heroes are given the chance to save humanity… but they’ll die in the process. Luke is the first to step towards the light beams.
