Does anyone else find it funny how much we call Layton by his last name? I rarely use ‘Hershel’ when I write about him, even from his POV. It’s either ‘Layton’ or ‘the professor’. We use Layton’s last name in all his ships? LAYClaire, RanLAY, DahLAY (shush, it’s a perfectly valid crack ship)…? Even to this day, it feels weird calling the professor ‘Hershel’. Like when you see your teacher outside of school, it feels wrong to call them by their first name? But Layton’s a university professor… (My class calls our profs by their first names.) Do any of Layton’s students call him by his first name, or is it always Professor L?
