mumble’s story is an inherently gay narrative
*kracks knuckles* alright, so. This is a perfectly valid headcanon.
However, it’s important not to erase the narrative. This is a story about ableism. Mumbles is the only penguin who can’t sing, and his father thinks that’s because he dropped his egg, which is said to be enough to kill a child.
Mumbles is canonically disabled in both a social and physical way, his coat not changing much from childhood and him being unable to interact with other penguins in a way that’s seen as integral to being a part of the society. He is shown to be almost incapable of containing his feet when he’s happy, pointing towards evidence that dancing is one of his stims.
This is very likely a narrative about autism, though it definitely overlaps with the gay experience.
