I know I’m going to lose followers for this rant and for being an Evil Atheist but fuck you I’m feeling a bit fed up right now about the posts people have been making. Angry rant about religion below. I’m tired of people talking about atheism as if atheists are pessimistic and evil for not having faith in a religion or just. Being a rational fucking person and not relying on emotions instead of facts to come to a decision. People act like. Being an atheist hurts religious people. When religion has honestly done so much to hurt the world. There are MANY religions that perpetuate the god awful idea that women are property and lesser than men. Look at the Christian bible, Ephesians 5:22 to 5:33 (talking about how wives should “submit” to their husbands because men are so much more responsible than women) Exodus 20:17 lists women with things to be owned by men, Timothy 2:12 saying women should not be allowed to teach, and that’s only scratching the surface of the Christian bible! Religion also hasn’t been helpful in equality among races. The Christian bible condones slavery. Exodus 21:7 talking about how enslaved women should not be freed as a man might eventually, Peter 2:18, and let’s also mention the verse that said it was OK to beat slaves as long as they got up after a few days. (I don’t feel like looking that one up its gross.) Not to mention how religion is literally. The only basis for homophobia. There’s literally no other reason for it. Religion has also hurt science so fucking much, when people tried to research or question things that went “against” the church, they were sometimes killed for it. People who could’ve gone on to study science and medicine and make the cure for cancer may have been stopped because religion told them “it’s all in God’s plan, you don’t need to do that.” People act like all atheists are straight white males, but with how much religions have crushed minorities, that’s not the case AT ALL and if you looked at our community you’d see that. I’m white, but I’m also queer and female. And even my straight white male atheist friends don’t try to push it on others, they don’t act higher than others because of their beliefs. They’ve just evaluated the evidence and come to their own conclusion. AND PEOPLE ACT LIKE THAT’S BAD?!?!? And just for the record. No. Any rationally thinking atheist doesn’t fucking hate religious people. I don’t hate christians, or muslims, or fucking anyone because of their religion. What I do hate is the terrible ideas perpetuated by them. But that??? THAT’S ALL EMOTIONAL! I’m not an atheist because of those reasons. Yes, all that shit is awful, but I would still believe in a god if there was ANY proof for it. Seriously. Feel free to send messages to try and convert me. I just want to belive in the truth. If there was evidence for a god, I would believe in them. Plain and simple. AND PEOPLE ACT LIKE THAT’S A BAD THING. You SHOULD be basing everything on fact and evidence. I don’t belive it’s right to belive in something purely because of emotion with no evidence, it feels like you’re lying to yourself. You can tell yourself that “I am immortal” or “Tomorrow I will find a unicorn” or “Global Warming doesn’t exist”, but that doesn’t mean it’s true! And people act like atheists are all pessimistic because a lot of religion appeals to people’s emotions, it’s comforting to belive that you have a soul and when you die you’re going to a nice place. But. You can’t control what you believe. You can tell yourself that “tomorrow this fictional character will appear in real life and take over the world”, but that doesn’t mean you’ll belive it. I have tried my best to learn about all the different religions, but I can’t believe in any of them, because the proof isn’t significant enough for me to! Just because I don’t believe in a “soul” or an afterlife or that we were created for a purpose doesn’t mean I’m pessimistic or unhappy. We were not created for some higher goal. We’re the end product of millions of years of evolution, not even that because it will continue on! There’s no purpose for humans to exist. But the great thing about atheism is that we can make our own purpose in life, based on our values that we determine for ourselves. I want to make my purpose to create and inspire and touch others as media has touched me. I want to give to the world. And it gets even better when you consider how many billions of years it took for us to get here, how much time and developmnt went into life forming here on earth and evolving into that we see today. That is truly awesome to me. Hdhdhdhd definately going to lose followers for this, sorry if I offended you but i. NEED to get some thoughts off my chest with how terrible religious people have been making me for for simply. Not being able to believe in the same things as them.
