real talk abt the detective pikachu movie: i loved the fact that the scientists were researching evolution manipulation? like?? yes

call me a nerd but i always wondered why certain pokemon evolved to be bigger or smaller than others of the same species (i.e. ash’s abnormally small shiny noctowl, that absolutely colossal dragonite with the glowing eyes, a staraptor big enough for a pokemon ranger to ride on when the pokedex says it’s only like 4 ft tall, etc.)

speed or strength or special attack or defense or whatever can be explained by natures and ivs and evs but size? the games don’t address that and i don’t think the anime does either

but the movie!! addressed that!! the creators of the movie were also interested in that concept!! they had scientists do research on that!! with torterra big enough to be mountains!! ohhhhh yes
