Professor Hershel Layton might be…a flawed person (never does his actual job, his gentlemanly behavior can come as straight up sexist at times and he usually puts people in danger just by them being around him) but I think we can all agree on that he is a very, very kind person and will even put his own life on the line if it means to protect someone else in danger (which probably stems from the fact of how many important people to him he has lost).

And this really shows as him using his own body as a shield, ready to take any possible damage.

And he never even thinks twice about doing it:

Here both the Professor and Luke are falling, and the Professor’s first reaction is to reach out and grab Luke and THEN HE TURNS AROUND SO HIS BODY CAN SOFTEN LUKE’S LANDING, AND HE DOES THIS ALL IN LIKE THREE SECONDS WHILE HE’S FALLING, HE DOESN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT, HE JUST DOES IT BECAUSE TO HIM LUKE’S SAFETY AND WELL-BEING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN HIS OWN LIFE

PROFESSOR HERSHEL LAYTON IS JUST SUCH A SWEET AND KIND MAN AND DOESN’T DESERVE ANY OF THE CRAP HE HAS BEEN THROUGH
