Charm’s Guide to Duplicate Shiny Hunting Via Picnic Union Circle Duplication Method

So! You’ve heard of the picnic method of shiny hunting in SV. And I was very inspired by This video by Patthickness who discovered that if you find a shiny while with a friend in the union circle, there is a method so you can both catch it! (usually only one person can catch a pokemon in union circle). Tonight me and my bf combined the two methods and it worked! it was a little confusing to figure out so im making a crappy guide so that others can do it. Below the cut!

So! First I will go over the picnic method!

There are better guides on this so I will give a shortened version. During mass outbreaks, shiny rates will be decreased once you beat 30 pokemon, and then decreased again after you beat 60 pokemon for a 1/1365 shiny rate! What you can do is defeat 60 pokemon, look for any shinies, but if none are shiny, instead of defeating any more, Start up a picnic! This despawns and respawns all the pokemon, basically rerolling and giving you another shot at finding a shiny. you can repeat this as many times as needed until you find the shiny or until the mass outbreak disbands.

NUMBER 2: THE METHOD TO DUPLICATING SHINIES VIA UNION CIRCLE:

MAKE SURE AUTOSAVE IS OFF! It’s important to note that the host of the union circle will have their spawns favored. So, if you and a friend want to do this and are looking at a specific outbreak, the person with the outbreak on their switch needs to host the circle. For this example, I was the host and my switch has a bombirdier outbreak.

I hosted the union circle and let my boyfriend come over to hunt with me! I defeated 60 pokemon, and then we did the picnic method. Since my spawns were favored as the host, I’m sure it was just my picnics that were despawning the pokemon, but my boyfriend joined each picnic just to be sure that everything despawned correctly.

Also please note during union circle things like: Only one person can fight a pokemon, and if they run from it it will despawn for everyone. Also in this game, shinies wont make any noise when they spawn like they did in arceus, so you need to be actively paying attention and watching.

STEP 3: WHEN YOU SEE THE SHINY:

THE HOST needs to save in front of it. Like in Legends arceus, you can save over a shiny pokemon and then restart your game, and it will still be there. SO the HOST needs to save when they see it

Then, The second friend player who is NOT the host needs to encounter the pokemon! they can now catch it!

ONCE THEY CATCH THE POKEMON: They need to leave the union circle. make sure the host DOES NOT SAVE and they reset their game!

When the host reloads the game, if done correctly it should have saved over the shiny, and they should be able to catch it too!

And with that, you should have Two of the shiny! One on the host’s save, and one on the friend’s save!
