just in case our collective public memory is too small. trans men do in fact get beaten, harassed, and even killed in public restrooms regardless of which one we use!

absolutely begging some of you to look up who brandon teena was and what happened to him.
this year (december 31, 2022) is going to mark the 29th anniversary of his death, and it is fucking appalling to see how many young queer people either a) don't know who he is, or b) ignore his case in favour of pushing the narrative that trans men and transmascs 'have it safer'.
it is appalling that transmascs and trans men have to beg members of their own community to pay attention to the ways in which they are still being targeted, only for others to spit in their faces and tell them to shut up about their own experiences.
it is appalling that some of you would rather argue about semantics than pay attention to what's happening to members of your own community. that some of you would rather have one more brandon, one more noah, one more malte, one more deadnamed, misgendered 'woman' be beaten or buried or both than listen to what is being said and understand what is happening right in front of your own eyes.
the idea that trans men and transmascs are never targeted and hurt for being trans men/transmascs is just blatantly false, and i'm tired of seeing it spread as if it's not.
do better. and when marginalised voices want you to understand what's happening to them, just shut up and listen to them.
