It's Time to Retire AGAB/ASAB
I read in USA Today this morning that Indiana has introduced at least 30 (!!!) anti-mogai bills this session.
How do I even summarize all this? Do I even want to? The word "ethnocide" comes to mind. These bills, in total, would effect an absolute erasure of mogai people from society.
But getting to the point of what I want to say here:
Some time ago, I chanced upon an intersex person who said to the effect that "agab/asab began as a good idea, to help intersex people, but now that perisex people got hold of it, the terminology is basically useless."
Well, after reading that article, I would say the cis-peri-hets have taken total control over agab/asab and have turned them into weapons to kill trans people and any queer person who doesn't have a stereotypical gender expression.
The Nazis are in the building, as it were.
Yesterday, I read that Utah bill that bans medical treatment for childhood dysphoria-in its entirety. What struck me was that whoever wrote it, must be a physician who has treated this condition for many years because it described the treatment process with intimate detail that the average person wouldn't know about.
And yet, despite this vast knowledge, this person said treatment for childhood dysphoria should be banned.
This is because it all boils down to cis-peri-hets misappropriating the terms "agab/asab" and taking control of the narrative.
It probably started with physicians. Wanting to be inclusive of intersex and trans people, sending out flyers about cervical cancer screenings to all "afabs"-but if you don't have a cervix anymore, the risk of cervical cancer is zero.
The idea being that everyone who is af/mab will have the same anatomy throughout their entire lives. Which is bull dookie.
Enter the politicians, and their hundreds upon hundreds of bills regarding ag/sab, defining it as a permanent, fixed status for life.
The goal, you see, creeping slowly towards apotheosis, is to criminalize any medical procedure that alters one's reproductive function.
Trans people are not the issue, they are the cover: some states are trying to make it illegal for adults to have genital surgery. When they're done with this, they'll go after birth control pills that make one sterile.
Forcing female or close-to-female persons to die from a miscarriage because abortion is illegal? The next step is forcing people to die from ovarian tumors because hysterectomies will be banned.
I feel like I'm turning into George Carlin, if he were an old grump living in the Ahsokan empire.
Ya know, in Ye Ancient Bharat, it was understood that a person's sex or gender could change at some point in one's life. We had "nastriya," women who weren't female, and "napumsa," men who weren't male-we had these people walking down the streets, and no one freaked out. It was just understood that these things happened.
Last year, I debated with myself whether or not asab had any relevance. I've decided no. I was never male to begin with, and haven't had reproductive tissues for twenty years, after five hours of surgery that rearranged my organs I don't know if I even have a prostate gland anymore (if I ever had one [should probably ask about this]).
So, I believe ag/sab is complete and utter bullshit because cisgender perisex heterosexuals and whatever George Santos is (I'm guessing a mutant cockroach that hatched in Chernobyl) have taken the words for themselves and are successfully using them to win their agendas.
We need to create new words to take back our power. Some women aren't female. Some men aren't male. What rights do they have? How can society accommodate them?
I feel like going into full manifesto mode.
Schools don't want to teach sex ed that mentions minorities? Talk about mixed-gender and same-gender loving relationships. Asexuals exist, so there won't always be sex.
Businesses don't want to serve same-sex couples? Make all businesses open to any gender pairing. Mspec exists. Mixed gender pairs are still queer.
Transmeds still not shutting up? Fine. Only people who need medical treatment are trans, all enbies who don't need care now officially called "the only normal people in town."
As an end note: all parents should buy sex ex material for their children, like Our Whole Lives curricula, or have them read scarleteen website-or even better, incorporate a church where all you talk about is sex ed so when the governor makes it illegal for psychotherapists to discuss sexuality and gender, you can literally say talking about gender identities is part of your religion.
