Laytontober day 18: AU
This was from an old abandoned idea, basically Descole was not around anymore, only the Golden Garden has been discovered, and Targent started to look for clues about the Azran themselves. Then they are the ones to find Randall.
They first convience him by saying he could become famous before going back with his old friends (I guess any mention of them would still made him recover some memories), and he agrees, a little ashamed of how he had been a fool, he doesn’t want to meet them empty handed.
In the beginning Randall thinks Targent is a cool organization, looking for the Azran and their secrets, a little blinded with his old regained obsesion, only to learn later what they do, and being unable to leave, learning with subtle comments that his uncle, Tannebaum, and his friends, who still don’t know about him, would be hurt if he tries to leave.
